This piece was a gentle nudge to try out drawing for the sake of drawing. As a perfectionist, I experience incredible internal resistance to anything artistic, so thank you for this gift
Your ego can definitely be proud of that drawing. I love tuning out cares by disappearing into the drawing process. Thanks for capturing that so eloquently.
I was having another look at your photos and thought, that is a beautiful piece of timber beneath I
the Silverbeet! Our son was showing us a piece of timber which was dug up in a yard where he was working (In the UK) a beautiful piece of Oak which he has cleaned up and is going to make a lamp out of, plus he has veneered some more timber which he is going to make into a table, so in another way he is an artist. If I get him to send me photos I will share on Notes and mention your name, or send it to you in messages if interested
Thank you so much for kindly sharing this. Being able to quieten our judging mind is precious and this seems a great way to do it. Looking forward to trying it.
“This is drawing the verb, not drawing the noun” is such a good distinction. It’s easy to forget the importance of the act if you’re caught up on the product.
Painting like mad to protect my mental health at the moment, absolutely love getting into a flow state with it. Great to see the stages of your drawing
Thank you for the reminder that drawing is good for the brain. Doodled a pinecone and it felt great.
Love this ❤️ trying to draw more without making a big deal about everything I’m drawing and letting go of perfection
Great to hear. Just put pen to paper and try and switch the brain off. It's hard but so worth it.

I’m so glad I found this. Just what I need to get myself drawing again.

You are absolutely right. Drawing is good for mental health. For that matter, all creative activities are good for mind, body and soul.

This was so lovely to read. I like what you said about drawing the verb vs drawing the noun.
And I think I like “silverbeet” better than Swiss chard.
Yes. It is such a mindful practice. I love this.
Just really lovely - thank you.
Wonderful thank you.
Great post, thank you! Such wonderful reminders and tips.
