I do love these drawings. I am still a beginner and use a black erasable pen. Sometimes I then add some colour with a crayon if I like the base sketch.
Thank you. Most of the drawings are in a Hahnemuehle Kraft paper A5 sketchbook. I love the brown paper and the books are super cheap. The white is random sheets of old watercolour paper that don't have a brand on them.
I’m the same as you, never go away without a collection of art supplies both for painting and sketching. I don’t do minis of my proposed work, but do check paint colours. Thank you for all of your suggestions, always great to get ideas from others, particularly those who really know what they are talking about
This was a wonderful, entertaining and very helpful read. I’m a beginner so really appreciate all the tips you so generously shared. Lovely to see your lively art too and feel connected with another part of the world. Thank you!
I enjoyed reading this so much. Thank you! I’m wondering if you are open to recording the session you mentioned and making it available to your subscribers?
Thanks Susan. Yes, I intend to record it and put the video in the follow up post, but I am not sure how well the recording might turn out so I didn't want to promise that. :)
Recently had some of the same realizations! Particularly about swatching. An opportunity to test materials and to experiment with a palette before committing

Thanks very much. I think drawing directly in pen is one of the best things you can do! There might be enough in that idea for a whole essay…
Love your work. So expressive! What type of sketchbook are you using? Or do you make your own?
Thanks for sharing.

That is inspiring.
Thanks Alex. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to after this book launch...

Happy to hear that it's helpful. More to come :)

Values are vegetables, colours are candy - you are so right there.
Lovely!

Yes swatching is so important. I guess all of the lessons are things that I already knew, but still need to learn a few times :)
