I’m partway through a project where I draw a building on location every day. It’s taught me a lot and I’ll talk about that in Thursday’s post. But today, I’m sharing how I paint them.
I’d like to paint them on location too, but it’s just too cold this time of year. My fingers freeze, and the paint won’t dry in time.
So, the other day, I brought my sketchbook back to the studio, set up my overhead camera, and painted a few of them.
In this video, I talk through my thoughts about painting nighttime scenes, my favourite pigments, leaving a “breadcrumb trail”, not being a slave to reality and a bunch of other watercolour tips.
If you like this kind of thing, then you’ll enjoy Sketchbook Club! It’s a fun online drawing meetup, and it’s on this weekend! All the details 👇
