Oh, thank you for this idea...... I'm learning Spanish at the moment, so that's great, I'm going to draw things with their Spanish names! Two birds, one stone :-).

I combine "make any mark on a page" and "cheap sketchbook" by using spiral notebooks - the lined pages aren't entirely blank, and the have horizon lines instantly available, should I need them
