Avoiding traps

and drawing a dairy

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about avoiding traps when drawing.

Tonight, I went live to demo how to put those things into practice.

Here’s the reference photo if you want to draw along - I’d love to see your results. Feel free to put them in the chat.

And here’s my final result:

I used a Tombow Fudenosuke pen on Fabriano Artistico paper. All colours are watercolour: indigo, nickel azo yellow, magenta, raw sienna and cadmium red light. I also used my favourite watercolour - palette dregs!

If you’re interested to learn more, I wrote about my approach to watercolour mixing a while back.

I need your help

Monthly meetings of sketchbook club will continue, but I want to add something more for paid subscribers.
